Responsibilities:
The Principal QA Engineer leads one or more teams of test analysts. Performs testing and leadership tasks on multiple concurrent projects that frequently span multiple products. Plans and creates test plans and test cases for the most complex areas of the product suite such as integration, performance, concurrency, scalability, etc. Responsible for defect management and reporting test results for the team.
Investigate, define and clarify product backlog items where appropriate
Lead multiple, high priority projects
Well versed and contribute to the improvement of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Create software test plans as part of a project team or longer term effort with no oversight
Own and practice the process for defect management, translating requirements into tests plans and reporting results to management
Lead quality assurance activities on policies, procedures, standards
Provide work breakdown and estimates for the most complex work items
Review estimates provided by other QA Analysts
Define, specify, and drive development cycle from QA perspective
Lead coordination of testing efforts with 3rd party vendors and partners
Influence multiple teams of test analysts
Coordinate testing with other project/product teams
Interact directly with other disciplines outside of Product Development, such as Customer Support and Customers themselves
Maintain and contribute to standards and processes for the Product Development organization
Provide training to other QA Analysts
Recommend new or alternate methods of testing for the organization
Provide focus in changing environment
Promote and live Sage Leadership Standards
Effectively communicate verbally / in writing with team
Proactively communicate any risks, design and quality issues, or increases in scope/time required
Accurately report on progress on goals to team through effective use of tools and team based communication
Encourage and embody teamwork across teams both within and outside the department and/or company
Influence others in cross-functional planning and meetings
Consistently work in an agile manner and support a culture of quality and continuous improvement
Drive innovation in the quality discipline by researching and propose changes to processes and tools
Operate with a consistent focus on simplicity and ease of use for our customers

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

years of QA, software testing or related experience required
Strong Automation experience is a big plus (Test Complete highly desired)
Expertise in multiple platforms and operating systems
Expertise in virtualization tools
Expertise in platform toolsets
Understanding of competition and product strategy
Expertise in product domain
Understands Sage products in relationship to current and future marketplace
Able to produce product level test strategies to the organization
Able to make appropriate trade-offs across projects and releases
Able to develop new test metrics
Able to align and inspire teams to achieve broader organizational goals
Able and willing to make decisions, even if unpopular for broader strategy of organization
Able to act effectively without all details/facts - willing to take action and adjust course
Able to effectively communicate to all levels
