DIRECTOR OF HEALTH SERVICES (DHS) POSITION
Summary:
The DHS is responsible for providing oversight of the resident health care service needs.
The DHS is also responsible for the overall medication delivery system and the in- service training of the Health Services department.
REPORTS TO:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Position
Responsibilities:
1) Adheres to and conveys the philosophy and mission of ONELIFE Management.
2) Is aware and knowledgeable of the rules and regulations for Residential Care Facility and Memory Care in the state in which employed as well as the regulations of the state's nursing commission.
3) Participates in the move-in and ongoing assessment process per state regulations and Onelife policy as appropriate and/or requested.
4) Coordinates the health care services using the RN audit tool.
5) Ensures that the medication system and the resident health record are being used appropriately and adequately.
6) Works with the consulting pharmacy to promote an optimal medication regime for each resident.
Assists with scheduling pharmacy in-services to maintain education on medication management for medication aid staff.
7) Plans, communicates and coordinates with medical and/or other providers concerning the health care needs of the residents as needed and/or requested.
8) Plans and executes in-services and infection control as needed per regulations and as needed or requested by the use of a calendar.
9) Supervises the limited nursing service of the Community, if provided.
10)Communicates with the staff using the RN/Staff Communication Binder.
11)Performs all other duties as assigned by any member of management.

Qualifications:
1) Ability to utilize and apply basic management skills.
= 2) Provides and coordinates resident care with an awareness of the principles of assisted living.
3) Maintains adequate attendance, notifies supervisor if late or unable to work in accordance with personal policies, follows work schedule.
4) Requires minimal supervisions, is a self-starter and is flexible.
5) Organizes and utilizes time appropriately, sets priorities and accomplishes assigned tasks.
6) Displays mature behavior in attitude and speech and action and demonstrates consistently pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach used by the Community.
7) Keeps resident information confidential, respects resident's rights, respects privacy and the right to self-determination by the residents.
8) Works cooperatively with the supervisors and co-workers.
9) Abides by established policies and procedures of the facility.
Looks for ways to improve facility function.
10)Has the ability to stand for long periods of time on feet and ambulate quickly.
11)Is accurate, dependable, neat and thorough in assigned tasks.
12)Is effective in both verbal and oral communication.
Other Requirements:
Unencumbered RN license issued by the state in which employed is necessary.
