We're looking to hire a Senior Electrical Project Engineer for the Integrated Technology Product Category in Portland, OR.

This is a product development position focused position for an experienced electrical hardware design engineer requiring a commitment to own a wide range of systems
engineering
activities, hardware aspects, and support of the product from the design phase, transition into manufacturing, and through life-cycle.

This will require interfacing with both internal and external project personnel as part of a multidisciplinary development team and the candidate should be comfortable working with projects that require industrial design, mechanical, electronic, controls and software engineering inputs.

Primary Responsibilities

Concept Development & Design
Provide technical leadership during new product design, modification of existing products, production technique improvement & test procedure development during the product development process working with an international team.
Analyze system architecture, external interfaces and system requirements.
Identify requirements issues and suggest corrections.
Perform FMEA and reliability analysis.
Advise management of new developments which may affect scope, schedule, costs, and customer relations.
Ensure consistency in design reviews, verification & qualification efforts.
Accountable for technical completeness of team's design output.

Development & Testing
Provide technical leadership and guidance in the assembly, troubleshooting and testing of functional prototypes.
Develop integration and system test cases and procedures.
Identify, track and resolve test issues.
Support development of and execute integration and system verification/validation/commissioning tests.

Transition to Manufacturing / NPI
Provide technical leadership for and ensure completeness of all documentation and on-floor production training to assure smooth transition from product design & testing into manufacturing.
Oversee the manufacturing engineering function related to manufacturing cost reductions or quality improvements.

Life cycle / sustaining
Provide technical leadership for and ensure completeness of all life cycle documentation and changes.
Required Prior Experience (7 or more years)
Project / lead electrical engineer for at least three new product platforms in a phase gate based development environment.
All aspects of product design including: systems architecture and electrical engineering design, embedded systems/microprocessor based device design, requirements documentation, automated test tools and test scripts, design for manufacturing/design for test, and design verification.
PCBA prototyping, bring-up, and debug.
EMI and EMC testing.
Low power design.
Strong understanding of mechanical and firmware; especially as they relate to electrical design.
Familiarity or experience with wireless design such as Bluetooth, Wifi, Zigbee, etc.
Familiarity or experience with audio and video formats and signaling, audio/video conferencing and associated components, wireless protocols (i.e. 802.11.N, 802.15.4), and wireless streaming for audio and video (i.e. UWB, WiDi, WirelessHD).
Interface with outside vendors, consultants, and external resources for design and manufacturing (1000 - 50,000 units) using domestic and overseas production facilities.
Electrical design tools such as OrCAD Capture, SPICE and Mentor HyperLynx, Mathcad, Verilog, Mathworks Matlab preferred.

Essential Skills
Results oriented with a strong ability to analyze complex engineering problems and provide key implementation decisions that define the electrical system architectural design.
Contribute to the project team of engineers, industrial designers, suppliers, production, marketing and support personnel.
Ability to develop device and system level specifications and designs for internal use and/or external vendors or consultants.
Ability to analyze customer requirements for feasibility, cost and development timelines.

Education and Experience
Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering required from an accredited engineering school.
Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering and design and familiarity with applicable codes, standards and acceptable industry practices.
Superior engineering skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write technical specifications and design documentation, create and author templates for engineering documents, create project proposals with technical details, and present verbally in one-on-one or group settings.
