Description
DAT Solutions, a subsidiary of Roper Industries, Inc., is seeking a full-time Director of Finance to join our team in Beaverton, Oregon.
Summary: The Director of Finance is responsible for activities in financial and non-financial planning and analysis. Conducts complex analysis based on a broad understanding of accounting, financial and product models, internal business systems and processes, and knowledge of products and services. Responsible for planning and implementation of accounting and reporting systems. Also acts as division Controller for a subsidiary of a US based publically traded company , responsible for daily accounting functions, accurately and timely reporting of financials, and compliance with company policies and other rules (GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc). Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
o Thoroughly analyzes the revenue and expense results, and provide oriented financial and operational reporting to the company's management team.
o Responsible for the budgeting process.
o Participates in business development teams as financial representative, providing team with financial planning support.
o Works closely with senior management in preparing key business indicator presentation packages for Division and Roper executives.
o Provides business reporting analyst subordinates with insight, analysis and requirements.
o Develops the reporting architecture and staffing requirements to support the organizations analytic needs.
o Conducts the more complex analysis of product usage to understand the trends resulting from economic, competitive, and seasonal influences that affect the organization's revenue.
o Provides in-depth analysis of complex financial and product models.
o Supervises Accounting and Billing staff through subordinate managers.
o Reviews monthly consolidation templates (Hyperion)
o Reviews various month-end reports for accuracy, proper recognition of revenue, etc.
o Reviews reports prepared by Accounting staff.
o Manages month end consolidation entries and procedures to ensure proper accounting.
o Manages policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
Supervisory
Responsibilities: Manages Accounting/Finance staff, some of which may be through subordinate supervisors. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in related field from four-year college or university required. CPA preferred.
Authority: Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers. Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation. Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations(s) and may also have companywide effect.
Job Complexity: Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.
Discretion: Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization.
Interaction: Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
Direction: Manages, through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of the department; responsible for results, including costs, methods and staffing. Acts as advisor to division and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience, at least 4 in management. Prior experience as department head strongly preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
