Job Title: Product Development Engineer V
Summary: DAT Solutions, a subsidiary of Roper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is looking for a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communications skills, and the ability to successfully interact with fellow development team members and project managers on a daily basis. This person will support existing software solutions and participate in the architecture, design, development, and support of new product initiatives. Candidates must be willing and able to take full responsibility for a project or task from concept to completion with minimal supervision. They must also have a desire to collaborate, share ideas, and works towards common team/company goals.
Primary Responsibilities include the following.
Translate business needs and requirements into technical specifications
Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring and direction to other team members
Lead the development of conceptual, logical and physical architectures
Design and write software code
Troubleshoot and correct software defects
Perform unit testing of software code
Support of production software solutions
Assist in the preparation of project plans and product roadmaps, specifically in the areas of task breakdown, estimating, and scheduling
Evaluate new technologies
Provide technical guidance at the business level
Work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

Required Skills and
Qualifications:
Commercial product development experience
Deep understanding of the C language and Java, J2EE, and Java Frameworks
Experience with scripting languages such as Perl and/or Python
Experience with message queuing technologies
Experience designing and coding large-scale, high-volume, N-tier systems
Working knowledge of OO Design Techniques, Application Architectures, and Design Patterns
Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills
Outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills
Detail oriented and has a passion for high quality results
Very high productivity and effective time management
Ability to accurately estimate tasks and track personal work
Ability to communicate accurate status to technical leads and project managers
Deep commitment to ongoing professional development and learning
Experience in the following technologies a plus:
Commercial .NET and C# product development experience
Oracle, including stored procedures, views, and triggers
Database design and optimization, NoSql/BigData
Web services, SOAP, WSDL, XML Schema
Eclipse IDE, Configuration Management (SVN)
Agile development
TCP/IP Networking
Education/
Experience: Bachelor''s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university. Typically requires a minimum of 7
years of related experience.
