HCC Coder Analyst

Description: Providence is calling an HCC Coder Analyst to Providence Health Plan in Beaverton, OR. In this position, you will: + Be responsible for detailed diagnostic coding associated with Risk Adjustment and Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC) coding. This impacts revenue and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) compliance with the coordination of technically detailed coding applications that impacts operations, programmatic and information systems, as well as contracted providers. + Have a comprehensive understanding of International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-9, ICD-10 and other types of coding to Health Plan, contracted facilities, and providers. + Perform various duties that include: + Identification and researching of provider diagnostic coding issues + Medical record review + Documentation standards and identifying and offering education in relation to provider coding errors + Work in an advisory role in development of Health Plan Payment Rules related to risk adjustment. Qualifications: Required qualifications for this position include: + Current certification as a professional coder (Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) + Current certification as Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) -or- must be willing to obtain CRC within 1 year of hire + 3 years of experience as a RHIA, RHIT or CPC certified coder within a healthcare provider organization or health insurance company + Demonstrated experience in project completion, educational program development and/or group presentation Preferred qualifications for this position include: + Baccalaureate degree -or- equivalent work experience in a healthcare setting may be considered + Addition of Certified Coding Specialist- Physician-based (CCS-P), Certified Coding Specialist- Hospital (CCS-H) Certified Professional Coder-Payer (CPC-P) and Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H) certification About Providence in Oregon As the largest healthcare system and largest private employer in Oregon, Providence offers exceptional work environments and unparalleled career opportunities. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
